Joos launches at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust

Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust becomes the first to launch Joos, allowing patients & staff to stay safe, charged and connected

Salford Royal NHS Hospital Emergency Department has become the first in the UK to offer patients Joos, the next-generation power bank service that allows you to rent a cable-equipped power bank for when you’re low on battery.

Now, patients can contact loved ones and access entertainment whilst in and around hospital facilities – without worrying whether their phone will run out of battery. In an age when our phones hold medical history, emergency contact details and COVID-19 passes, access to a phone charger at hospital is critical.

The Joos service has been implemented in response to the growing tensions between patients and staff as a result of long waiting hours and COVID-19 policies that leave patients without company in an emergency situation. Joos has not only maximised visitor & patient comfort, but it has helped provide peace of mind to family and friends whose only line of communication is via texts and calls.

Importantly, with Joos, patients and staff remain COVID-safe. The chargers are coated in an anti-microbial film and quarantine themselves between use until COVID-19 viral agents have broken down.

Reception staff love it as they’re regularly asked to charge patients’ phones so that onward travel can be arranged, but the risks associated mean they can’t assist and tensions rise – now they have an easy-to-use solution.

Doctors and nurses have also commented they’re now able to retrieving emergency contacts when the patient’s phone is flat, and can charge their own phone on the move during long shifts through our free charging for NHS workers scheme.

Daniel Simons, Head of Growth at Joos, stated, “Joos is thrilled to support NHS hospitals during these unprecedented times. Offering patients and staff a solution to stay charged on the move was front of mind when we developed Joos and we look forward to supporting many more hospitals nationally.”

You’ll find Joos’ revolutionary power bank service located in the emergency department waiting room. To grab a cable-equipped power bank, download the Joos app then scan the QR code to dispense one. Once your phone battery is full, you can reinsert the charger into the station – and voila!
